Know what it will bring before it goes.

Closing a shop, moving out of a space or clearing surplus? List what you have. For every line the ledger works out what an auction, a buyout, consignment, selling it yourself, scrap, donating or hauling it away would really leave you after fees, and adds up the best mix.

Worked example: a café close-out, five lines, $4,630 by the owner's own estimate. Each tag is what all five would leave after fees if they went one way; the longer the string, the more it brings. Computed live by the ledger on its placeholder rates (selling it yourself assumes local pickup, so no shipping).

Seven ways out

Every route takes a different cut.

Menu boards worth $15 each bring more at auction than sold one at a time once your hours are counted; a cooler that does not cool may only be worth its weight. The ledger runs every line through all seven.

  1. 01

    Auction company

An auction firm sells it to the highest bidder and keeps a commission; some add a per-lot or setup fee.

  2. 02

    Bulk buyout offer

A buyer offers one price for the lot and usually hauls it away. Fast, and usually the lowest share of value.

  3. 03

    Consignment

A dealer displays it and pays you when it sells, minus a commission. What does not sell comes back to you.

  4. 04

    Sell it yourself online

You list it yourself. Platform and payment fees, packing and shipping, and your own hours all come out of the price.

  5. 05

    Scrap or recycler

Paid by weight. Only worth it for metal-heavy items nobody will buy whole.

  6. 06

    Donate

No cash. Any tax value depends on your own tax situation; the ledger only multiplies by the rate you enter.

  7. 07

    Haul away

You pay to have it removed. A cost, shown so you can see when an item is worth less than nothing.

Placeholder rates used here: auction brings 60% of estimate less a 30% commission; buyout offer 25%; consignment sells 60% of what is offered at 80% less 40%; selling it yourself brings 90% less 13% fees and half an hour of your time per unit at $20/hour, with packing and shipping at $0 because the example assumes local pickup (buyers collect; a 150 lb espresso machine shipped would cost far more); scrap 10¢/lb; haul-away 5¢/lb. They are not market data: in your own ledger you replace each with the quote or rate you are given.

What this site is not

Liquidator.guru does not buy, sell, auction, appraise or list anything, and nobody here will call you with an offer. It is not an auction house, a licensed auctioneer, a liquidation company or an insolvency practitioner. It is a calculator and a set of plain explanations. Anything leased or pledged to a lender is not simply yours to sell: check first. If a business is closing with debts it cannot pay, talk to an attorney or accountant before selling assets.
